Over the weekend we lost one of our chickens, but God quickly showed me something in the midst that I think is important for all of us to hear. I was outside mowing the yard and my husband was helping to move some of the things out of the way while I did. One of the things was the power cord that goes out to our chicken coop for the automatic door. When it’s unplugged the door shuts. He looked at the door when it started closing and did not see any chickens in it. About 5 minutes later I saw him running over to the power cord. Instantly I knew something was wrong. I quickly noticed there was in fact a chicken stuck in the door.
Both of us quickly felt all sorts of things like shame and frustration. I got back on the mower and kept mowing while I was processing. Thankfully, Holy Spirit soon showed me that this was a direct attack from the enemy. The enemy is trying any and every way possible to bring division these days. He wants to divide nations. He wants to divide states. He wants to divide churches. He wants to divide families. He wants to divide marriages. I knew the way I was feeling towards my husband was not the right reaction. Once I realized the enemy’s greasy hands were trying to slide their way in I quickly took back the authority. It was like it completely shifted how I felt about the situation.
Last year, 5785 in the Hebrew calendar, was the year of the door. For us, God opened a lot of doors in our lives, doors of healing, boldness and seeing the path He has established for us. The enemy doesn’t like that. He wants to close these doors. This is now the second chicken we have lost in a closing door this year, and now that I am on to the enemy’s tactics I refuse to give him a foothold. Of course I am sad that we lost another chicken. God doesn’t expect us not to grieve the situations of life. The test in this season of life is our answer to God’s questions: Does all that you have belong to Me? Do you trust that I am still good, even if life doesn’t feel good? Is there anything you fear more than Me?
Final Thoughts…
When we acquire the ability to see life’s situations through our spiritual eyes our flesh has no option but to bow. Those consuming thoughts that tried to take us to a place of anger, bitterness or fear are swept away by the blood that washes us white as snow. Everything that happens in life will either draw us closer to God or push us away. God said he will work all things together for good (Romans 8:28), but the enemy will never stop trying to undo what God is doing. If we unknowingly partner with the enemy, we are resigning our ability to experience the good outcome. If we resist his attacks, we awaken our spirit and soul to the truth that God is good, and He will work everything for good.
