Use Your Wings, Woman

Tuesday, May 13th, 2025

I’ve been slowly reading the book of Revelation lately with every intent of reading it a few more times. It is so rich. Every time I read Revelation I think of John, who was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching Christ when he received this incredible book from God. Can you imagine being old by human standards and being on an island all by yourself? I know that would quickly bring out our true colors. John was not shaken however and still worshiped the Lord and honored his sabbath days. If only we could all do that when we are exiled on our own “islands”. Think of the incredible fruit our faithfulness would produce.

One scripture from Revelation stands out to me in particular. Go back with me to February of 2021. I had just discovered I was pregnant with our fourth child which brought out a new level of anxiety. I had had some mental struggles with my previous miscarriage and 3rd full term pregnancy and I could feel fear starting to knock at my door. My family and I were outside on a rare sunny day in the depths of winter and when I scanned the blue skies I saw two bald eagles circling directly over our house. Instantly in my spirit God brought me to Revelations 12:14:

14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

God was sending me a sign in the natural that He was not surprised by this pregnancy and had already prepared the way for me. That picture and that scripture gave me strength and hope numerous times throughout my pregnancy.

As I find myself back at that scripture, I get the sense that God is wanting all of us women to be familiar with Revelations 12 and all the promises that it contains. Whether you are in the childbearing age or not, we all have things in the spiritual that God is wanting to birth through us. Women specifically have been despised by the enemy since Genesis 3:15 when God put the enemy in opposition to women and their children. The enemy spends much of his time trying to distract and discourage us to try to stifle the power of God. But that’s not the end of the story. With Jesus’ death on the cross we have been given authority through the Sword of the Spirit to trample on our enemies. He can only stop what God wants to birth through us if we let him.

Final Thoughts…

The next time you find yourself in a place of opposition to what God is leading you through take yourself in the spirit on the wings of an eagle to the place in the wilderness that God has prepared for you to be nourished. God didn’t say, “Ok, the enemy hates you and is going to try to kill you, have fun.” No, He says, “I will be with you no matter where you go. Whenever you need the wings of an eagle to fly to the place of rest and protection I have specifically prepared for you, just let Me know. You will prevail. Wait until you see the crown I have for you.”
