Pursuing the More Part II

In the last blog I shared what God was showing me regarding the growing size and quantity of the flowers that the children bring me each year. This year however, something even more interesting happened. While I was out of the house for a bit (thank you Mom for the break), they picked more flowers then they have ever picked and they decorated the back yard with them. There must have been over 100 daffodils of the multiple hundreds we have in our side lot. They extravagantly draped them around on the ground, swing set, trampoline, lawn furniture and stairs going out to the backyard. It really was quite beautiful. I loved how free they were to adorn our property with beauty. They were not trying to save the flowers for just any old vase. They were not concerned about how many flowers they utilized. They took a blank, unadorned canvas and made it reflect the goodness of God. Not only were the rocks singing, but so too were the flowers.

One of my daughters later said that she wanted to decorate the yard for me for Resurrection Day. Isn’t this exactly what God did for us through His Son? He sacrificed His perfect Son so that we could have an eternity of running after the goodness of God. He desires that we find all the beautiful flowers He has extravagantly distributed in every corner of our lives. Jesus’s death and resurrection made it possible for us to rise above death, fear, failure and pain and enjoy all the abundance that is God. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and every flower ever made. He doesn’t portion them out based on a timetable or works-based system. He gives us all we ever need in every moment.

Are we too busy looking for whatever it is we think we need that we miss all the goodness and love that God leaves overflowing on our path? Of all the blessings and provision we see I am sure there is even more that we miss either because we are distracted or we are looking for something else. If we could capture it all and soak it all in, I am convinced we would never take our eyes off of Him. We would have no desire to look to anything else but God to meet our needs.

Here are a few scriptures on the topic.

Psalm 27:4 (TPT) Here’s the one thing I crave from Yahweh,
the one thing I seek above all else:
I want to live with him every moment in his house,
beholding the marvelous beauty of Yahweh,
filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace.
I want to contemplate in his temple.

2 Corinthians 9:8 (TPT) Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything – every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.

Final Thoughts…

I want to be careless with my love just as God is careless with His love for me. He doesn’t weigh it out to me based on my performance, my abilities or my status. He can never give me more than I have access to right now. The only thing that prevents me from experiencing His love is my skewed perception and/or the lies of the enemy that have distorted God’s truth. May we live a life of abundance that is overflowing with the extravagance of God so that we can abound in love to others. He gave us the beauty of Creation to use and enjoy, just like He gave of Himself so that we could enjoy this life and the eternal one to come.
