One of the things that I am sure strengthens one’s faith more than anything else is an experience with the miraculous. I have heard many stories of people receiving physical healing in various ways. It is at this point that they typically make an emphatic decision to follow God with all their heart. After experiencing something miraculous how can you not believe in the God of the Bible?
I have been working my way through Acts lately and I am amazed at all the incredible things the disciples did. Their boldness and confidence to do as Jesus did and not be bullied by the Jewish leaders is remarkable. Let’s look at a few scriptures from Acts 4 and 5. Acts 4:13 says:
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:19 shows us the boldness of Peter and John:
19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.
Acts 5:15-16 says:
15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. 16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
I absolutely love that phrase “they realized that they had been with Jesus.” Are there people in our lives or people that we pass by in the grocery store or at work that could say that about us? Is the time in our secret place oozing out in us in such a way that all we have to do is walk by someone and they are healed? Sign me up for that!
Final Thoughts…
I think we are entering into a season where we will begin to see many signs and wonders. The church is awakening and recognizing her role and her authority against the powers of darkness. As we begin to walk in this authority, we will make way for the miraculous power of God to flow. There are many hurting and lost people out there that are ripe and ready to meet the grace and love of God. And really, there are many inside the church that are ready to experience God’s healing and deliverance. Lord, show us the part of the body that we will fulfill in this upcoming season. We want to carry Your light to others just like Peter and John did. We want to be unashamed in the face of our accusers and faithful to You no matter where You lead us.
