Light Always Wins

Before each homeschool day my kids and I read a devotional and a Psalm together. In my personal journey, getting up before everyone else and reading my Bible and praying has been one of the most powerful weapons in my spiritual arsenal. I want my children to learn at an early age the importance of starting our day with God and His Word. Recently, one of the scriptures we read together stirred my spirit and I knew it was destined to become a blog. Psalm 112:4a says:

Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;

For only nine words, it packs a powerful punch. That word “arises” is an amazing promise that we can take hold of. In the original Hebrew this word means to rise like the sun, to scatter rays, a fetus breaking forth from the womb, a plant springing up (Lexicon). The sun rising, women giving birth and plants springing up are things that were written into the blueprints of Creation and no power of darkness has ever been able to stop them.

For those of us walking the straight and narrow and committed to righteousness before God, we have the promise of this kind of light. No matter what kind of darkness we find ourselves in, light will arise just as sure as the sun rising, babies being born and plants springing up from the earth. That’s a promise from the Word of God. The challenging part is to not lose hope in that promise while we wait for the light to arise. This scripture doesn’t say when the light arises, it just says that it will.

Final Thoughts…

Lord, we thank You for Your Word and Your Promises that are just as true today as they were when they were written. We thank You that there is power in Your Word and that no powers of darkness can prevent Your Word from going forth or from being fulfilled. We pray specifically for those that feel like they are in a season of darkness. We pray that You would fill them with a fresh measure of hope and perseverance to know that light will arise at the exact suddenly that You have orchestrated. There is no darkness that cannot be dispersed by light. Light always has and always will prevail.
