He Will Carry You

Deuteronomy 1:29-31:

29 “Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified, or afraid of them. 30 The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, 31 and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’

This verse feels quite similar to the last blog. I think God is wanting to reinforce some simple truths we can expect when we commit our lives to Him. These are the type of things that we forget in the hustle and bustle of this world. These are the truths that the enemy tries so hard to cloud over with his lies. Going into 2024, I don’t believe it has ever been more important to flood our soul with constant reminders of the goodness, omnipotence, faithfulness and love of our Heavenly Father. Over the last few years it has become more and more obvious that we cannot put our faith or our hope in anything besides God. Our governmental leaders, healthcare system, schools, financial industry and even many church leaders/organizations have become corrupted and are being led astray by the enemy that tells them God is not with them and that He is incapable of carrying them. But regardless of what we see with our eyes or what we hear with our ears, we must continue to stand on the truth that is God.

I love the visual in verse 31 where it says, “how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son.” As a mother, I can so associate with this. For the first few months of their lives, babies are not able to get around without a parent carrying them. They depend on us to move them about in order to eat, sleep, get cleaned and snuggle. God wants us to see Him as providing this level of care to us. When we are in our own wilderness seasons, He wants us to allow Him to completely carry us and provide everything we need.

Final Thoughts…

I sort of feel like I keep saying the same thing over and over. Perhaps, it’s my spirit and soul that need to hear this more than anyone else. God is the God that goes before us. When what we see looks unstable, we must make the choice to believe that God is still working and that He will make it beautiful. We all have our own Egypt that God has carried us out of. We must bring to remembrance all the times that God has saved us and rest in the fact that He will do it again and again. He will never stop fighting for us. He will never give up on us. He isn’t done with us yet. He is the One that carries us when it feels like we can barely lift our foot to take one more step. Lord, in 2024 I want to take all the energy I would have used being terrified or afraid and put it into worshiping you and thanking you that you are fighting for me. You are the One that has carried me in many seasons past and I know you will do it again.
